“I’m so happy to be through. Saurav is such a good player. He’s still struggling a bit with an injury so he wasn’t completely at his best. I just tried to keep my focus and not let him move me around. So overall happy to be through.

“Of course, with every win I get I think about carrying on playing professionally but I have to make the right decision for my family and this is something I just can’t sustain.

“I have only played with Karim [Abdel Gawad] once before and I had just come off a tough match previously so I feel better now than I did then so I’m looking forward to this match.”Premier Tour

Lucas

“I’m really happy with this win. It’s actually my first win of the year. I just tried to play with no expectation today and enjoy it. I could feel when I was in the match that I was moving well and hitting good shots so I just tried to keep that going.

“I’ve been working a lot on the mental side of my game and I just felt good on there today and I was in a good head space, which is the most important thing for me.”

Victor

“Overall I’m just happy to be through. I’m struggling to train currently as my college squash season is over so there’s not a lot of people to hit with. I’m just trying to train without questioning everything. I knew I’d have a tough one against Auguste today. I think he’s 4-1 up in the head to heads so I’m happy to turn that around.

“Lots of players who have been climbing up the rankings have said that it’s really tough to stay in a good ranking. All the pressure is on you suddenly and it’s definitely difficult. You can feel pressure with doing well and having to defend the points and it’s so easy to just go down and lose confidence.

“I’m just looking forward to a match with no pressure tomorrow against Mohamed [El Shorbagy] and I’ll try to do my best”.
