Les 8 têtes de série du tournoi faisaient leur entrée mardi : toutes ont validé leur ticket pour les quarts, mais 5 d’entre elles ont eu besoin de 4 jeux – dont la tête de série n°1 Emily Whitlock. Hana Moataz (n°41 mondiale) est tombée sur une Jacqueline Peychar (n°100) très inspirée. le gain de la troisième manche (11-9) a été cruciale pour la jeune Egyptienne qui a pu dérouler ensuite. De son côté, Grace Gear (n°47) semblait s’envoler vers un facile succès, mais la singapourienne Au Yeong Wai Yhann (n°87) lui a compliqué la tâche et n’est pas passé loin d’emmener l’Anglaise au 5ème jeu.

Mariam Metwally (n°36) et Georgia Adderley (n°43) se sont affrontées une fois, à El Gouna en juin dernier, et le score en dit long sur l’âpreté du combat : 11-9, 9-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-9 en faveur de l’Egyptienne … On peut s’attendre à un gros match entre une Metwally qui tente de retrouver son meilleur classement (20ème mondiale) après une série de blessures et son mariage et une Adderley sur la pente ascendante ces derniers mois.

World #100 Jacqueline Peychar picked up where she left off yesterday and caused some trouble to WR 41 Hana Moataz. The 3rd game was crucial for the young Egyptian, who was able to gain control after winning it 11-9.

It seemed like WR47 Grace Gear was cruising to an easy victory but Singapore’s Au Yeong Wai Yhann, WR87, did not make life easy for her opponent her and was close to taking the English lady to a fifth game.

World #36 Mariam Metwally and World #43 Georgia Adderley met once, in El Gouna a few months ago. The score says it all about the intensity of the match: 11-9, 9-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-9 to the Egyptian … We can expect a big battle between Metwally, who is looking to get back to her best ranking of WR20 after some injuries and her lavish wedding and Adderley, a young player on the rise.
